On Friday afternoon, 22 July 2022, the Dutch Minister of Culture, Education and Science, Dr. Robbert Dijkgraaf accompanied by the President of Leiden University, Professor Annetje Ottow, inaugurated the KITLV-Jakarta Front Office and Leiden University Office in Indonesia, which are located at the premises of the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta. The inauguration was marked by the signing of a plaque by both.
Moments earlier, Leiden University and the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia reaffirmed the cooperation between the two institutions. This inauguration at the same time revived the collaboration for scientific research activities, collaboration regarding the joint submission to UNESCO’s Memory of the World inscriptions, and especially the complementary digitization of manuscripts and documents collections of the two institutions.
With the inauguration of the KITLV-Jakarta Front Office and the Leiden University Office in Indonesia, now visitors have direct access to information about the Leiden University Library collections, several collections of resources stored at KITLV-Jakarta, and also about Leiden University and the study programs offered.
